Sarah Younggren

Sarah Younggren, LCSW has spent over 13 years helping children, adults, families, and Colorado schools through both therapy and consultation. As a licensed clinical social worker, Sarah has expertise in supporting families, individuals, and school communities to build their own resiliency and healing to support positive mental health and emotional wellbeing. 

Therapeutically, Sarah specializes in working with school-aged children, adolescents, young adults, and families. Sarah interweaves concepts from family systems therapy, which looks at the family as an interconnected unit, cognitive behavioral and solution-focused concepts, and an overall neuroscience orientation. She strongly believes that we have the power to retrain our brains to focus on hope and reduce stress and the physical and emotional symptoms that come along with chronic or acute stress and trauma. Through proven brain-based and mindfulness concepts, she helps clients through major life events and long-term stress, as well as anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and behavioral challenges.

As a school mental health consultant, Sarah brings expertise in the development of comprehensive school mental health programming to support students, families, and staff. Sarah specializes in needs assessment and strategic planning, as well as implementation support of specific mental health initiatives to enhance school mental health. 

She holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Denver. She is trained in Trauma-Informed Practices in both therapy and schools. Therapeutically, she is highly trained in Motivational Interviewing, Neuroscience, strength-based and empowerment focused counseling to heal from trauma and difficult life circumstances. She is an expert at assessing and supporting the development of comprehensive school mental health strategies using known best practices. She has particular expertise in universal strategies to support all students and staff to support mental health in all areas, thereby improving academic achievement outcomes.
